Recovery Of Marginal Agricultural Land With Crops Environmentally Sustainable

There is a new way of relating to the non-urbanized territory, for what remains of places just “healthy”, not compromised by the cement (and there are, nevertheless, still many).

The change of use of agricultural land from food production to human and animal dedicated crops for biomass and solar panels; infrastructure projects that take up a lot of ground; in times of financial crisis, the rush for land as a safe haven; return to the land of various social categories .. young, unemployed, returning migrants; the re-naturalization of certain parts of cities (gardens, canals, ….) or former industrial areas or even in peri-urban agricultural land degraded; research fields where to dispose of waste material treatment plants, composting, farming, biogas plants …… are just a few themes that appear in the first draft of proposed materials and discussions for the associations that we have mentioned above. For our part, we find this strategy for the future of all places (and our future, our children, the future generations …) and very interesting.

Notwithstanding that there is more than ever an effort (these days where you need to identify concrete lines of change), to make a list of things feasible, practical, possible to give a thrust to a new approach to land, ‘agriculture, goods produced for food use (but also for other purposes, such as energy), to stop pollution and use of land.

Unacceptable, for example, it appears that today the use of the land has a little ‘stop (a little) for reasons of political decision-making, cultural, environmental … but only because there is the economic crisis that blocks construction of expansion in new areas virgins , infrastructure impacting, etc. when did the virtuous soil conservation may be made by choice and not responsible for the current economic climate?

Maybe all you need to focus on a new role of the worker, the work on the ground, in contact with it: the farmer “new” necessarily becomes an operator environmental, technical, scientific, cultural, historical … that must be able to understand and manage a large part of the supply chain of agricultural products (farm to fork); must perceive and be able to manage new potential uses both economically and environmentally attractive land abandoned and / or poorly fertile (or difficult to work with, such as soils and sloping terraces into disuse).

To propose the possible new food products from start (because there is a demand, there is a market ...), or provide for the reconstruction of lowland woods (existing three hundred years ago ...) for the production of wood chips (ie chopped wood for use as energy source). A farmer's ability to get involved in these new innovation, new economic opportunities, accompanied and aided by the "political" institutions that "create the market" on certain products, so that it develops "offering" (for as an incentive for all public buildings to wood chip boilers, firewood or in school canteens opting for organic food products with local tax for all retailers with food products at zero distance). So over all, and the myriad of needs and specific proposals to be realized, it is clear that the new era in social, cultural, economical "post-crisis" will have the bet to win a new concrete attitude, land, agricultural land; and recovery virtuoso of each territory now abandoned.
